Eileen & Callie’s Place had the privilege of participating in the first  Brave Mini Meetup at the Salvation Army Church  in White Center. The event centered around wellness and body positivity and an inspirational keynote by The Healthy Edge CEO, Amber Thiel.  The girls enjoyed a cross-fit class, preparing dinner, and learning a choreographed dance to “This Is Me“.

Each girl had a blank card taped to her back and when the time was right, all of the participants were told to write a descriptive word on someone elses card, without speaking a word. Beautiful, strong, and powerful were repeated often. The girls were told to save the cards and cherish what others saw in them.

Brave X4 will be held April 4, 2020

New Friends, New Resources!

WELCOME BACK JAMERIKA!

After a short hiatus, Jamerika Haynes has returned to serve on the Advisory Council for Eileen & Callie’s Place. While growing up in foster care, she was determined to have a different life than the one she experienced. She put herself through college earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from WSU. She is the owner of Clever Jam Communications and offers strategic communications guidance, motivational speaking and facilitation for her clients. Jamerika  is also Ms. Evergreen State 2019 and promotes her volunteer platform  “A Chance to Succeed: Empowering Youth in Foster Care”  We are delighted that she has rejoined the team!

Your support, encouragement, and referrals are truly appreciated.  We continue to reach out to girls as they prepare to age out of the foster care system and move through the transition to adulthood. We also continuously reach out to other organizations who serve and support youth in foster care – collaboration is vital to addressing this societal issue.
