A note from the Mayor of Auburn ~ Nancy Backus
I always say that this is a community that truly cares about each other, and events this week just help to re-emphasize that. Thursday morning Dr. Natalie Ellington, Founder and Executive Director of Eileen & Callie’s Place hosted a fundraiser breakfast at our very own Auburn Community & Events Center. The mission of her organization is to help young women who will or who have aged out of the foster care system. There are mentorship opportunities and their goal is to empower, educate and train young women to be successful in their lives. What a gift! Jamerika Haynes, who was in the foster care system herself was the keynote speaker. She has become the successful owner of Clever Jam Communications, a company that supports child welfare organizations.
